Ayrshire Music FestivalPrestwick Academy School String Orchestra won the Bank Of Scotland Trophy at the Music Festival on Saturday night in Ayr Town Hall. Congratulations to all involved.
Specific congratulations to Laura Williamson, 2A3, who won her piano recital class and also to a quartet comprising Hazel Jamieson, Rachel Home, Katie Beadle and Mairi Watson, who won their class of String Ensemble and were graded outstanding in their assessment. Both groups have been invited to perform at a final concert on Friday (23rd March) at 7pm in Ayr Town Hall. Tickets are £6 and available at the door. SOUTH AYRSHIRE CHAMBER ORCHESTRAMany pupils from Prestwick Academy recently attended 2 residential weekends as members of The South Ayrshire Chamber Orchestra.
They all successfully auditioned for membership of this orchestra and have been a credit to themselves with their commitment and hard work during those weekends. A list of successful players can be found by clicking Read More ATLANTIC RISING CHALLENGE In February, all S2 pupils had the opportunity to complete the “Atlantic Rising Project”, an Interdisciplinary challenge on Climate Change.
This project was run by the Geography and Modern Languages departments. A major focus was employer engagement. Our pupils were fortunate to be briefed by representatives from the Ayrshire Joint Planning Board, EDF (Hunterston) and Strathclyde Renewables (a research department based in Strathclyde University). BEST IN SCHOOL Paul Brown 3A1 Certificates have been awarded tomore pupils, to see who click Read More SCOTTISH NIGHT SUCCESS Members of Prestwick’s St Nicholas Ladies Golf Club and their friends were treated to a fun filled evening of entertainment when Mrs Elaine Morran asked a group of Prestwick pupils to provide entertainment at a Scottish evening which she was organising.
