“We entered the O2 Appskool competition which was to design an educational but fun app as part of our S2 elective class in the Business Education Department: ‘The Apprentice’. The winning team’s idea would be developed by O2 and launched on a live mobile platform, with half of the profits being split between the school and O2 Learn. We gathered together all our ideas and came up with “Build2Build” – a fun app which allows you to manage and create your own businesses. We then sent our idea of our app to London O2 headquarters and after a few weeks of waiting to find out if we won, we got an email through saying we had been successful and had made it through to the top 5 in the UK. Our flight was at 7am - the usual time we would be getting up for school! At 8:10am we arrived at London Luton airport and were transported by O2 to the Headquarters. Dani kept us entertained on the journey there. We arrived outside the O2 headquarters and we were then given a tour guide around the building from our tour guide Nigel Dutton. “It was a great experience for us” Carly said. As time went on it came to lunch time. “The food was amazing!” Lloyd laughed. Before we knew it, we were first to present our presentation. We all spoke clear and the judges loved our animoto videos. The songs we chose were very catchy and grabbed everyone’s attention. “The whole presentation went so well” stated Megan. “we could not stop smiling.” Whilst we waited for the other groups to present we were kept entertained by some of the reaction games that O2 had provided for us. Miss Campbell even took a turn! Time flew by and soon enough all of the presentations were over. The judges thanked us all for coming and they were very impressed. We left the O2 headquarters and took the taxi back to the airport. We arrived at Luton and quickly gobbled down our dinner before we boarded our flight back to Glasgow! After a few days of having to contain our excitement, Miss Campbell received an email to inform us that we had come a very close second to Eton College!! Overall it was a great experience and we have learnt a lot from visiting O2. We hope to get involved in this again next year and compete with the chance of winning.
