![]() Prestwick Academys under 15 cross country star Kirstin Oakley completed the 2011/2012 season on Saturday by making a well deserved first appearance on the international stage with her participation in the SIAB Schools International race at Strathallan in Perthshire. This race is contested between teams from Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales with each team consisting of the top 8 finishers in each countrys National Schools Cross Country competition with Kirstin gaining selection due to her recent Scottish triumph. Click Read More for further details Unfortunately she didn’t have the best of starts having been spiked and almost having a shoe torn off which found her in 32nd and last place at the start, she did however put in a trademark gutsy performance and recovered well to finish in 14th place being the 3rd Scot home and helping her team to the team silver medal. This rounded off an excellent first season at u15 level which has seen her take gold at the West Districts, silver at the Inter Districts, bronze at the National Cross Country and gold at the Schools National Cross Country.
Kirstin will now take a well earned rest before embarking on the track season for the summer.
