Positive Destination Event
On Wednesday the 22nd of June Prestwick Academy hosted its very own Positive Destination Event. This was an excellent opportunity for pupils to meet and speak with local business, colleges, universities and training providers. It was the first time the school have been able to host or have such an event for 2 years since the pandemic.
We had 20 business attend the event, which gave a wide range of careers and pathways for young people to begin thinking about future careers steps. It also allowed them to gain a better understanding of what different businesses do and the various roles that companies have within them. For many of the pupils it was the chance to hear from employees about what they do in the day to roles of there job and ask question about how they got into the career.
Over the course of 4 sessions we have almost 500 pupils from the senior phase attend the event, to gain valuable knowledge and insight into the professions and hear from the businesses.
Businesses that attended the event were; Navy, NHS, Army, Buzzworks, Ayrshire Hospice, SAC – Active Schools, Alex Begg, GE Caledonian, Hansel Village, Woodward, Clyde Marine Training, GCU, Regency Clean, SFRS, SAC Employability & Skills, MERCK, SAC Rangers, SSPCA & HR Arena. Thank you to all that attended and DYW Ayrshire for there help.
