S3 Mathematics
Courses
In S3 pupils continue to follow a Broad General Education and will develop skills for further learning, as well as skills for life and work. Learners will acquire and apply operational skills necessary for developing mathematical ideas through symbolic representation and diagrams. They will select and apply mathematical techniques and will develop their understanding of the interdependencies within mathematics. Learners will develop Mathematical reasoning skills and will gain experience in making informed decisions.
In fourth year, pupils follow the new National Curriculum. National 5 has replaced Standard Grade Credit, National 4 has replaced General and National 3 has replaced foundation. Pupils should know in S3 what National Qualification they are aiming to achieve at the end of S4.
